The Golf Grip Explained
Introduction
Firstly we would like to explain the importance of holding the club correctly. What you are trying to achieve is two hands to work as one unit. This is achieved by positioning the hands on the club in the way they would naturally hang down from the shoulders. If you are able to do this then you will find that when you return back to impact your club face has a better chance of returning square.
The correct hold will also have a very big influence on two other fundamentals within the golf swing. The Swing Plane (Angle you swing the club around your body). Also the leverage (Hinging of the wrists) will work more to its full potential. If the hold is not too tight, both wrists will hinge and unhinge in the same direction thus creating controlled maximum club head speed.
Routine
Start by holding the club out in front of you by taking the shaft in your right hand. This will help in taking the grip in your left hand and keeping the club face square.
Left Hand
Next, with your fingers going underneath the grip, allowing the grip to run diagonally from the middle joint of your index finger, down to the base of your little finger. Bring the palm over the top placing the thumb down the centre of the club. This should show 2 - 2 ½ knuckles in the left hand (fig 1 & 2)

Right Hand
Now your left hand is on the club holding the face square, connect your hands together with either the baseball, overlapping or interlocking connection. The grip runs diagonally in your fingers. From the middle joint of your index finger to the base of your little finger bring your palm over the top so your left thumb slots underneath your life line. (fig 3)

Check points
There are a couple of main check points in your grip when both hands are on the club. Firstly both V's should run between your chin and Right shoulder. Also you should see 2 to 2 ½ knuckles in your left hand. (fig 4)

Note. To allow your grip to work to its full potential, do not hold the club too tight. In between tight and loose is ideal.
